area panel meeting
Jul 15 2008, 6:06 AM EDT
The next Park/Heeley Area Panel meeting is on Tuesday 7 October, possibly at St Paul's Church in Norton Lees. Denise Reaney (chair) has made a formal complaint to the manager of the Area Panel Co-ordinators because the details of the Park/Heeley Area Panel are not getting put onto the Council's website in a timely manner. This Panel meeting will be an extra special one because the details of the new Community Assemblies proposals will be rolled out so please spread the word.We talked at the last meeting about going to this to ask what the area panel is doing/could do to promote low-carbon lifestyles etc... perhaps we should talk at a future meeting about details of what we want to ask. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

This is the latest (6th July) from Heather's correspondence for GT with Denise Reaney:Dear Denise Thank you for your reply. I am glad action on climate change is a priority for you. I note you forwarded the email to the cabinet member for climate change. I did request that action on climate change be an agenda item at the Area Panel. Is this possible? Kind regards, Heather Hunt Hello Heather Thank you for writing to me on a subject which is a priority for me also. I am forwarding your email to the cabinet member for climate change for a response and I shall ask the area co-ordinator to address the issue of advertising area panel meetings in advance on the Council's website. The one problem with the latter is that we would not always be able to declare the venue as advance bookings for venues are variable. Kind regards, Denise Do you find this valuable? |

This Panel meeting will be an extra special one because the details of the new Community Assemblies proposals will be rolled out so please spread the word.this is the email I sent to Denise Reaney Dear Cllr Denise Reaney I am writing to you in your capacity as chair of the Park/Heeley area panel . I am a member of a local group in Meersbrook known as “the Green Triangle”. We are people living on Albert, Shirebrook and Kent Roads who want to do something locally about climate change and who at the same time enjoy working together as a community. There are about 40 of us involved so far. I am attaching the text for an article published in the June edition of Heeley Voice. As you can see from the article we are doing quite a lot ourselves in reducing our own environmental impact and engaging others in the process. We are now in the position that our ability to reduce our impact further is limited by infra-structure. So we are interested to know what the plans are in the Park/Heeley Area for aiding residents in making low carbon lifestyle choices easier. Examples we can think of are: Cutting car use by making safe walking and cycling options to school and workplaces Promoting local food growing and local, fresh organic food procurement in schools and businesses. Expert advice and grants for insulation on unusual houses – eg without cavity walls, or cavity walls that have rubble in them. Grants and advice on micro-renewables. We are also interested to know what awareness raising activities are planned for community groups and schools etc. Several of us in the green Triangle would be interested to assist with these if relevant. Is it possible to have the question “what are the plans in the Park/Heeley Area for action on climate change?”on the Agenda for the Area Panel on a date some of us can make? The forthcoming dates are not on the website, so information about that would be helpful too. Yours sincerely Heather Hunt Do you find this valuable? |
