Woodburing Stoves

I noticed that there seems to be some interest in wood burners. I have noticed since some of my neighbours have installed these that the air is often smoky outside the house, and my laundry (and cats) come inside smelling of smoke. I have heard that these are 'carbon neutral', however wonder what the city would be like if everyone had one. Is there any debate about this? I suspect that there is wide variation on quality of wood burners, some of which let off more smoke than they're supposed to. There is also the issue of where wood is sourced from, and often people use wood burners in summer when they would not normally use gas heating. I would be interested to hear your opinions. Andrea Do you find this valuable?
